* Give to Friends Page… continuing story

Franco planned on working through the night to get the Give-to-Friends page fixed. It should have be ready soon. (Although i now realise he didnt say exactly which night he would keep on it… ) But hey? Even after a new update has been applied it’s still not really fixed!
The argument is it is a Internet Explorer problem. As a former webdesigner/-developer i can see why developers at some point quit trying to adjust to said crappy browser.

But possibly its safe enough for now, if you heed some warnings! In the newspost the devs suggest to go use another browser when you want the Give-to-Friends functionality work properly: “We’ve isolated the problem to Internet Explorer, and are still testing a work-around to correct the problem. In the meantime, we recommend you either use a different browser to send supplies, or search for your friend via the hunting group page, then click “Give Supplies” next to that friend. A warning message has been added to the supply transfer page.”

ps: What i am curious about, i whether this is truely the only origin of the problem. Anybody out there had the gift-going-to-a-wildcard on a not-IE-browser? Please call in!

* Updatesssss… [add sound like a tire flattening]

Tuesday-evening (in my place in the world) an announcement showed up that the game was to be offline for a bit in a minute for applying an update. Guesses started quickly on what it would contain… You might have read already in above mentioned newspost, that its mainly (a rather colourfull) adjustment to the camppage.

By now a storm of protest has arisen about the new borders on the camppage. One such thread is in the news section: Don’t like the New Update? Post here. The main points of protest seem to be: “-The Timer was better before… It should at least be a little bit smaller.” And: “-The Layout on the Trap Setup area is ugly. The colors dont fit.”

But pay attention! Many more objections have been filed in that thread: From objections against the focus on prettyness/layout over functionality; along objections about the now rather obvious ways of inviting new friends and all means of helping to go promote the game; to objections to a growing diminished mobile functionalty alledgedly due to latest updates. And dont forget the rather irksome dissappearance of cork posts – they are being thrown into the mix as well.
It reads like a many-faceted complaint that says: we dont get that there were no obvious repairs of basic functionality.

You need to vent too? The thread is here: http://tinyurl.com/dontlikeupdate

(@.#) Let’s hope and pray the devs will do work through all functionality bugs one by one and come out as victors on the other end!

* Scrap of happily Good news! :)

“Scavenger Mice were a little reluctant to drop scrap metal in the Forbidden Grove. They’ve stocked up on more metal and should now drop it more frequently.”

* Warning for a probable FB-credits-SCAM

This is possibly a bit late in reporting, but there is a scam-app on FB these days, the lure of which is based on the free FB-credits that many hunters got as a present. This little nasty FB-credits-scam-app tells you you will get these much wanted credits, but you have to invite all your friends first.

The true free FB-credits just pop up one day on your mousehunt-screen and you dont have to do anything for those. The other one is taking advantage of your friends-list and there is no garantee you will get actual credits. (If you do get them credits their way i would be really scared what they have gotten from you in exchange for those!)

This FB-credits-deliver-all-your-friends-scam is apparantly still roling through the ranks. Please dont fall for it!

* 24 Rare Breeds, and they are?

Rare breeds are not exactly the same as the Event mice: it includes the Black Widow, the Leprechaun and the Mobster. The Master Burglar is not a rare breed anymore. Check the (now) updated wiki on this: http://mhwiki.hitgrab.com/wiki/index.php/Rare_Breeds

Some of the rare breeds we expect to see again, but for example we do wonder about the Terrible Twos mice, which were only around Mousehunt’s second birthday… It sounded like they were never coming back.

* Mousehunt University has felt the loss of the Nibbler too

And thus MHU has started gathering up a Journalism Team. You find the call for writers here: http://tinyurl.com/mhucall
I have taken up contact with the initiator to keep an eye on whether we can help eachtother out at some point.Sadly to say the prospects are the same as were the main reason for the original Nibbler to collapse: lack of writers.

* The “BBQ” of the day: chances to an Acolyte

There are these ever re-occruing Big Burning Questions on the Furms. If and when such a thread has some new information in it, this ever returning Big Burning Question might make it to the new re-occuring Mibbler’s Item: The “BBQ” of the day.

Todays BBQ is: Chances at an Acolyte are? Since the beast has appeared in MH this has been The question for every Legendary and up, almost as basic as ‘to be, or not to be?’

Now this is complicated matter: the mathemathicians in mousehunt have multiple formula’s that might or might not get it all clear and out in the open. Chances are small, but bigger then they once used to be – that much we all agree upon.

There seems to be a little breakthrough in wizz-land. This came to light in reaction to the question of one hunter: ‘How many acloyte mouse can I get with 700 pieces of Runic cheese?’ Trevor Hasting’s reaction (on page 2) is the one you should look into. It’s a wizz-kid explanation, riddled with formulas that one better skips…. But i will quote the most important part here:
“Starting with 700 runic and hunting with ABT-magma, anywhere from 1-8 Acolytes within the 700 run a feasible outcome, 2-6 a reasonable outcome, and 3-5 a probable one.”

The main answer for todays BBQ still is: small. No more then 7 or 8 Acolytes from 700 Runic cheeses should be anticipated. Which is so much better then when i first hunted the Acolyte a year ago. The answer used to be in those days: anticipate 1 Acolyte in 1000 hunts.

* Fog camping: amusingly profitable!?

One brave hunter was camping in harbour for getting a Fog mouse without using sb+. And surprisingly he was having a ball as he was getting more brie then he actually used! Aaron McG. says:
“Anyone know if Fog is (even rarely) attracted to Brie? I’m quite willing to sit in the Harbour for days towards that end, if it means not having to waste SB. Interestingly enough, I started 30 hours ago with 5,000 pieces of Brie, and now I have 5,015. The bonus: 34 Gilded for MB hunting later. You can watch my Brie stockpile grow as the Burglars visit every so often…”

Warning: this experience might not be easy to repeat for all hunters, as when i peaked in Aaron was using the Snow Barrage and the Molten Shrapnel Base.

* MOON FOR SCRAPS

This is a rumour that pops up now and again on the Forums these days. Is it true? or not? The most sane answer i have seen to that question is this: “Other then with the difference between maki and brie in Furomma, results from using Moon in Cats to get scrap metal CAN be replicated by using Ancient (3 in a row etc).”
With them high prices for Moon cheese on the market place one cannot help but conclude: using moon cheese is not worth it.

* Mystery Object…

Hunter Tom D. placed a mysterious object shrouded in mystery covered with mysteriosity on a table in the tavern and said this: “If it is not disturbed by the morning when I wake up a random post will be rewarded. Can the tavern- goers contain themselves?” After some guesses and wild experiments, some playfull hunters ended up with the most beautiful technicolour rainbow-coloured gumdrop ^^

Must say many many Mousehunters love food. Start a chat with them and it will include something to eat. Maybe we have something in common with them mousie targets we aim for all day? ^^

* places green and purple seemingly honey(?)-dripping mystery food on table and dares the Heroes to it :B *

Anybody who has news or wants to write a (fluffy) piece but not a whole Mibbler, can send the copy or the idea, or even just the interesting thread-adress… to my pm-box :)
